Microsoft Imagine IT Academy

As part of ICDA's Business Applications and Information Technology curriculum, in partnership with the Washoe County School District Career and Technical Education (CTE) department, and led by Mr. Carter, ICDA Charter High School offers access to the Microsoft Imagine IT Academy program.

Successful completion of this program provides the student with valuable technical skills that can readily be applied to high school studies, are extremely useful in the higher education setting, increase employability opportunities as they create a bridge to facilitate transition between school and the work place, lead to increased life-long earning potential, and can promote confidence and self-esteem.

The available industry-recognized Microsoft Information Technology certifications further enhance the value of this program by providing aspiring information technology career applicants with proof of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Digital Literacy/Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)

This course prepares students to earn Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications in Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Students will apply real-world problem solving strategies while creating documents, developing multimedia presentations, and exploring advanced communication methods.

Students will be trained on the latest software using official curriculum from Microsoft. Students of the Microsoft IT Academy receive hands-on experience with the latest Microsoft software and industry approved curriculum.

The first year course of the Microsoft IT Academy will fulfill the computer literacy requirement for high school.

Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification

Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification validates mastery of Microsoft Office skills that are valuable demonstrating productivity in a wide range of jobs and other life pursuits.

Earning MOS certification proves the ability to use Office applications for on the job needs and provides valuable distinction to help students enter higher education or the workforce. "Earning an MTA certification is recommended but not required to pursue higher technology certifications."

By earning a Microsoft Certification students will:

  • Have a firm measure and increased confidence in their skills.
