ICDA Leadership Activities
Find the Hero in You
Earlier this year, ICDA Leadership students hosted a blood drive. Thanks to our students’ efforts we had 18 people step up to give the gift of life. From them, we had 11 successful donations and we collected 14 pints of blood. This blood will be used to save up to 39 lives! This couldn’t come at a better time given how urgently we are in need of blood donors.
“From everyone at United Blood Services, and especially from the patients and families you have touched- THANK YOU! You have made the difference,” Nicole Frosini, UBS Donor Recruitment Representative.
Wednesday, May 24, 2017, ICDA leadership students will again partner with our local United Blood Services and host the Bloodmobile at our school. Our student board representative work with the UBS Donor Recruitment Representative to coordinate all of the donors and the event itself.
Leadership students will create the marketing materials that we display around campus. Leadership students will go class to class and do an oral presentation describing the event. They will also have the donors review the guidelines and complete the proper documents needed to donate blood.
The event will also be posted on our Facebook page and local online community calendars to encourage community member participation.
Our school has accepted the challenge of helping to find a cure for Blood Cancer! We are joining over 29,000 schools across the nation to make a difference and raise as much money as we can!
Students will be participating in a national fundraising effort called, Collect for Cures. Collect for Cures is a program for high school students to demonstrate leadership, creativity and teamwork to make an impact and raise money for blood cancer research from April 10-April 28, 2017.
This student series is a series of service learning, character education and philanthropy programs where students gain the unique experience of helping thousands of people in their fight against blood cancers. Programs are tailored to each school level so students can grow with the Student Series and have an even greater impact on the lives of patients.
